Caspar David Friedrich painted the picture "Chalk Cliffs on Rügen". It shows three people standing on a grassy cliff and looking out to sea. A tree, branches and the white chalk cliffs frame the sea. The three people are a woman in a red dress, a man in a blue suit who has crawled to the edge of the cliff on his knees and a second man who is leaning casually against a tree looking out over the sea.
I chose the same vantage point for my picture. However, I have replaced the three people with a cow. She is standing on the edge of the cliff and enjoying the view.
Down in the valley, the farmer is in a frenzy. He is probably on his way to church in his Sunday best. Now, of all times, he learns that Liese has escaped again. Liese is a restless wanderer and is always on the lookout for new pastures. The farmer has to do without going to church today. Together with his farmhand and maid, he has to search for the cow. I wonder where she is today? The cow, not the maid. Hopefully not in the parish garden again. Liese has a penchant for flowerbeds.
Liese is unaware of all the hustle and bustle. She stands pensively by the sea and is happy about the fine pasture. She won't be sharing it with anyone.
